Book Proposal Submission

Surfari Press publishes books that capture surfing’s wanderlust—taking the road less traveled, dream surf trips, unforgettable adventures, waves of a lifetime, and the unique surfing cultures that connect us with other surfers, the ocean, and the waves.

In addition to surfing, Surfari Press also publishes books on skateboarding, art, photography, and nature’s flora and fauna.

If you are an unagented author with a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat surfing story, a photographer with awe-inspiring images, or an artist with incredible surfing art, Surfari Press would love to hear from you.

We invite you to submit your proposal. We promise to carefully review it and inform you of the outcome.

Process

Surfari Press has an open submissions policy.

The proposal submission process:

1. Familiarise yourself with our catalogue before you submit your proposal.

2. If your story is a good match, then read the proposal submission guidelines.

3. If you can meet our guidelines, then prepare your proposal.

4. Ensure your proposal is awesome.

5. Submit your proposal using the online submission form (scroll down the page).

6. Patiently wait for our response. Allow for up to three months for us to review your proposal and let you know the outcome of our review.

Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to ensure your proposal gets the best review from our editors.

1. Surfari Press currently only accepts submissions by using the online submission form (scroll down the page). Proposals sent via e-mail or postal delivery will not be accepted.

2. The contents of your proposal must all be included in one PDF document that is less than 10 MB. We do not accept multiple documents per proposal.

3. A book proposal consists of:

• A brief cover letter about yourself

• A one page synopsis of your book

• A plot outline

• At least two chapters (do not send a complete manuscript)

• If art or photographs used in book, include 2-3 samples.
